Saturday Rugby
June 6, 2008 at 7:00 pm | In Uncategorized | 1 CommentToday I played rugby against Te Awamutu Scorpions. We all new this was going to be a close game because we had played them three weeks ago and just beaten them by a conversion. The game started off with us kicking off but nothing very exciting happened for about ten minutes when our winger scored out by the sideline but our kicker mist the conversion so it was 5-0 to us. Then the ball started to go from end to end as we all started to kick the ball trying to play down the oppositions half. When we were in the middle of broken play the scorpions through a lofty pass and our little hooker got an intercept and scored and this time we converted it making the score 12-0. It was then half time and both teams made a few interchanges. The second half didn’t start off to good for us as they drove over and then scored. after they missed their conversion we all cleared our heads and started defending well again. A few minutes later we were defending down by their tryline but then one of our players stole the ball and then I set up a try with our hooker scoring his second try. The Scorpions went on to score one more try and make it a close finish. As we were trying to hold off their defence i did one tackle where i lifted up a player and dropped him on his back. In the end we held them off and went on to win the game 10-17.
Season Opener
May 21, 2008 at 9:42 am | In sports news | 1 CommentOn Saturday the 10th of May I played in my opening rugby game for 2008 for the Te Awamutu Hornets against Frazer Tech. When we arrived we all went into our changing rooms and put on our shirts and boots. We then went out on to the number one field to do our warm ups and stretches. The ref then came over and yelled out “two minutes”so we all started to jog over to our playing field. When we arrived we lined up ready to take the field, the ref then called us on and gave us the choice to kick and we told him that we would kick. After a few minutes we scored in the corner and went on to score another three tries that half. In the second half they stepped up there defence but we still managed to score another two tries. In the end we won 39-0 but i didn’t get player of the day.
Goals Term 1 and 2
March 19, 2008 at 9:29 am | In goals | 3 CommentsBefore the end of term two I would like to be able to memorise the whole closing karakia. I can do this by practicing it every night.
In the next two terms I am going to try and participate in as many sporting activities as possible. I will be able to do this by trying out for all the sporting activities.
In the next two terms I am also going to try and use better vocabulary in my English work. I can do this by editing my work and using a thesaurus.
Another goal for me is to work harder in group work. I can do this by sharing my thoughts to my group.
My last goal is to get better at all of the languages that I am learning. I can do this by paying attention to what the teacher is telling us and not getting sidetracked by other things.
Series Winner
March 5, 2008 at 1:39 pm | In sports news | 1 CommentOn Saturday the 23rd of February New Zealand and England played the series deciding match of cricket down at AMI stadium in Christchurch. New Zealand bowled first and got an early brake through by getting the opening batter Phil Mustard out for about two runs. As the game carried on most batsmen got quite good starts but couldn’t stay in the middle long enough to get any big scores. England went on to make 242/7 but once New Zealand went in to bat it looked like a score that could have been chased down in about 25 overs as Brendon McCullum scored one of his quickest fiftys but soon after he made his fifty Jesse Ryder was run out. When Jamie How came in to bat he made a few quick runs but then Brendon McCullum fell for 76. When Ross Taylor came in to bat Jamie How and himself made a nice partnership and went on to win the match for us.
NANA
October 9, 2007 at 12:06 pm | In poems | No CommentsIn the garden or In the kitchen her black curly hair, her glowing eyes and tremendous smile could be seen from everywhere. In the morning she would wake to leave her lonely bed as her husband had already left there house. She would slowly move her tired legs to her sparkling marble bathroom and pull out her hair curler and stand in her bathroom till her every hair on her head was curled. Nana was that kind of person that didn’t use to much technology. She would mostly invest her hole day working in her small kitchen. She would work her fingers to the bone whether it was making her dinner or just cooking some delicious treats for her grandchildren. Her only break in her day was when her favourite T.V. programme was on, cleaning her house and doing the washing and when someone would call her up and ask if she could come and clean there business. During the evening she would go and lay her feet up on her ripped leather rocking chair and talk with her husband about how great there day was. After an hour the silent tone of there voices would make them drowsy and they would finally make a decision to head for there bed.

Finals Rugby
September 4, 2007 at 9:49 am | In Uncategorized | 2 CommentsThen began a time of pure athletes, graceful crowds in grand stands, the sweet sound of metal sprigs vibrating the long tunnel of glory, big hits and painful injuries, scores changing every few ugly, but exciting minutes, big cheers after eighty minutes and the glory in fans bodies, and an entirely new sensation called finals rugby.
